What the heck is a Triathlon? Why would you do that to yourself? What are the benefits? Are they really beneficial?
Funny Story! After demolishing [AKA barely finishing] the Spartan Race 2K24 alive, and after experiencing some extreme heat exhaustion and some pretty intense muscle fatigue/dehydration- I ended up WANTING more...
I know that that is a weird thing to say, BUT- it is a weird thing on how much you can enjoy pushing yourself, even if it's one day out of the year or everyday out of the year- I NEEDED to do more than just Spartan and their fairly popular 'Trifecta Race' every year... SO! After a long night of ponderance. I realized that I have never been into JUST lifting, JUST running, JUST biking, or JUST swimming. Neither am I a master of doing any of the skills above, I JUST enjoy it.
Triathlon Baselines and their type(s) of races...
Types of Triathlons: A Beginner's Guide (2024)
Swim-3.8KM Bike- 180KM Run- 42.2KM for covering distance in good time and ALL for absolute effort in the longest consequential race to Date!
The Sprint, Olympic, Half-Ironman, Ironman Triathlons are all different fitness levels but can be ran, and accomplished at your own pace in good time. [That is the point]
Realize that you do NOT have to be a master of all or ANY of these skills to complete a triathlon race. Whatever you set your mindset to, if we commit to it- we can REALLY [really] accomplish anything we want. It might take a little longer than others, but before we get into that, take a step back and remember that every single BODY is different, no reaction is the same.
What are your training days looking like, for time? for effort? for distance?

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS??? What can it do for the Brain, Body, Heart? How will it affect my mood and energy?
2024 Harvard Health Publishing® of The President and Fellows of Harvard College
Funny enough- I was sent an email to one of my weekly subscriptions about a Study done at Harvard medical school that consisted of 40,000 men and women (Ages 20-90) on Swimming and their perspective on Morbidity/Mortality rates in the U.S.
Now, KEEP IN MIND, This study started in 2010, so this is 13-14 years of research on these individuals.
Out of the study Only 2% of swimmers, 8% of Runners, 9% of walkers, and 11% inactive have ended up passing on to another life. The American Heart Association has conducted research primarily in Women on how an increase at 1% of HDL Cholesterol decreases the chances of obtaining and dying from coronary heart disease by 3.5%.
Yeah! Swimming for 30 minutes a day can be that 30-40% chance of staying away from heart disease and making it strong enough to create optimal blood flow throughout the entire body. Increased Circulation and Blood Flow are created whenever we swim because of the anti-gravitational effect water has to the Heart. THAT'S RIGHT! It makes it easier to pump blood...
The benefits of not being able to breathe underwater makes the body adhere to adaptations like, a certain tempo breathing rate, timing your breathe intake and being able to hold your breath for longer. This can also provide a strong Presence of Mind by being able to follow a stroke tempo or Breathing Practice. This helps your body utilize your oxygen intake, maximizing red blood cell growth, and transporting to all the muscles throughout the body creating your very own PEAK VO^2 MAX!
Aside from your skin being harmed by Chlorine, the benefits of Swimming can be seen in every aspect of the word Beneficial. So... yes! I believe Swimming is really [really] beneficial.
